Sanitary Temperature Sensors:

are among the most fundamental measuring instruments for monitoring and controlling production processes or CIP/SIP processes in the food and pharmaceutical industry. Anderson-Negele’s line of temperature sensors ensure efficient processes and sustainable quality with the highest precision and short response times when measuring temperatures and temperature changes in liquid media in many applications, including breweries, dairies, beverage and wine production and in the pharmaceutical industry.

TS Temperature sensor series

Sanitary design / sanitary materials of RTDs (Resistance Temperature Detector) and temperature sensors

The high-quality Anderson-Negele temperature sensors and gauges are manufactured completely in stainless steel. For applications in the food industry quality class 1.4404 (316L) is used, and for pharmaceutical applications 1.4435 (316L) is used. Due to their extremely robust and durable design, the sensors can withstand extreme mechanical stresses such as vibrations and pressure shocks that occur repeatedly in many applications in practice.

Process adaptations / Installation of the RTDs (Resistance Temperature Detector) and temperature sensors

Anderson-Negele offers a wide range of process connections to ensure extensive flexibility when it comes to installation in new plants or retrofitting in existing processes, tanks, or pipes. In addition to temperature sensors with Tri-Clamp connection or O-ring seals, there are also versions that allow for installation without a process opening and can be used in pipelines with very small diameters. Most configurations meet Sanitary design specifications such as EHEDG, 3-A, and FDA.

Versions / Performance of RTDs and temperature sensors

The sensor head of the TS series can be selected as a compact version or as a mini version. In both sizes, a version with integrated transmitter or with connection to an external transducer is possible. Depending on the process requirements, the temperature sensors can be equipped with one or two platinum measuring resistors Pt100. To ensure that the tip with the measuring chip always sits exactly at the point where the critical temperature is to be measured, insertion lengths from 1 1/8 to 43 1/2 ” are available, and the inline integration in tanks and pipes is possible with a diameter from DN10. Optional reduced measuring tips with 3 mm or 4 mm diameter improve the reaction speed and significantly shorten the t50 and t90 response times. A front-flush variant ensures that pipes remain completely free for pigging. A special sensor version for installation in thermowells that are welded into the process enables precise temperature measurement without direct contact of the sensor tip with the medium. This means that a sensor can be removed, tested or replaced without opening the process while the process is running.

Also available are several specialized temperature indicators. The FD digital reference thermometer was designed for use in a legal pasteurization system, meeting all requirements of the Pasteurized Milk Ordinance. This device may also be utilized on retort cookers where remote mounted displays add operator safety. Reading of process variables is removed from dangerous areas.

FH digital temperature gauges offer a standalone battery operated drop in replacement for old style mercury-in-glass thermometers on retort cookers. Digital display also simplifies gathering of process data during critical cook cycles.

This advanced sensor is specifically designed to monitor and control Clean In Place chemical concentrations to optimize cleaning and protect against chemical over-use, which can damage equipment.

Additional options

The standard version of the temperature meters ensures precise measurement of liquid media from 0°F to 300°F. Certain models are available with a range of -50°F to 350°F. For visual monitoring at the measuring point the sensor is equipped with LCD display with digital temperature indication in °C or °F.

Further temperature sensor versions include battery powered temperature gauges for food and dairy applications, special gauges for retort applications or digital reference thermometers for pasteurization and report applications.
