Potentiometric level detection

Operating mode of the Potentiometric level measurement

 
The potentiometric measurement principle uses the alteration of the voltage amplification between the electrode rod and the metallic wall of the filled Tanks.

In the medium an electric flow field is generated, based on the electric conductibility and the capacitive susceptance. The voltage ratio is proportional to the part of the sensor rod which is submerged in the liquid. As only the alteration of the tension is detected, the properties of the medium, especially its electric conductivity, have no influence on the measuring result. In addition, by means of a second, patent pending measuring method, the sensor determines the consistence of the medium in which the sensor rod is immersed. The evaluation of the resonance properties makes sure that foam is detected and qualified as such, and also that incorrect measurements due to adhering material are avoided reliably.
