GB "JD" Differential Pressure Switch

 

Q. I have two different type of sensors, can I use them with the JD Differential Pressure Switch?

A. Yes. As long as the input cards match the sensor and channel.

 

 

AIC 801 Micro-Based 1/8 DIN Controller

 

Q. What outputs does the 801 Loop Controller provide?

A. 4-20mA - This current output signal varies in accordance with the PID tuning of the unit. It is a self powered (24VDC) output. Wired directly to I:P Transducers for Pneumatic Control of Valves, or directly to Variable Frequency Drive Controllers for motor speed control.

 

2 AMP Mechanical Relay - No power is provided - dry contact closure only. Selectable for Above Setpoint or Below Setpoint action. Field settable setpoint.

 

 

Q. What are the different models available?

A. Model number on sticker - located on instrument case.

 

Model starts "8011":

  • Factory configured for 100 ohm RTD input
  • NO onboard power supply
  • mA output for PID controller out signal (self powered)
  • One 2 AMP mechanical relay for alarm function
  • Field configurable for mA input, but lacks internal power supply

 

Model starts "8014":

  • Factory configured for mA input
  • WITH onboard 24 VDC loop power supply
  • mA output for PID controller out signal (self powered)
  • One 2 AMP mechanical relay for alarm functions
  • Field configurable for 100 ohm RTD input

 

 

Q. Can I re-configure from RTD to mA input or mA to RTD input?

A. Yes - instruction are provided on Technical Bulletin 1003 - Click to See. NOTE: If you have a model "8011", this unit does NOT have an on-board loop power supply. You will need to provide an external supply to power the input transmitter. Follow the correct wiring on the above Technical Bulletin.

 

 

Q. Can you provide tuning parameters for my process?

A. Yes and No - although every process varies, the following parameters are a good starting point.

 

Tune Menu of Controller:

  • Page 28 of Manual - Step 7 - PB1: Enter 20
  • Page 28 of Manual - Step 9 - ArSt: Enter .15
  • Page 28 of Manual - Step 12 - rSEt: Enter 2
  • PB1 - Functions to gain stability
  • ArSt - Functions to drive system to setpoint
  • rSEt - Functions as offset (+/-) that is always present

 

These values will provide a good starting point. Increase or decrease PB1 if the process values is not stable. Increase (by small amounts) ArSt if you cannot achieve setpoint. Increase (by small amounts) rSEt if adjusting previous parameters gets you close, but you need a little more to make setpoint.

 

 

Q. Can I get two 4 - 20 mA outputs from this controller?

A. No. Only output one can be setup for 4 - 20 mA. For more than one 4 - 20 mA output , refer to the 1/4 din units in our product line.

 

 

AJ-300 Recorder/Recording Controller

 

Q. The display of my unit flashes between "off" and a numberic value, Why?

A. The unit is in the Off Mode. Press and release the scroll key until ' oper ' or ' ctrl ' appears in the display. Press the down arrow key to activate the mode. The display should stop flashing and display the correct value, the chart will now continue to rotate at the speed that is programed in.

 

 

Q. I have just installed a relay board in my recorder but I can not find it in the program mode. Why not?

A. Even with the hardware installed correctly the unit will not recognize it until the unit is remodeled to reflect the additional features.

 

 

AV-9900 HTST Recorder Controller

 

Q. Why won't my 9900 print the time or date on outside of chart?

A.

  • Chart ran past 12 hours. Follow sticker in door to Stop Chart and Start New chart. This will divert the system.
  • Verify print head cartridge contains 4 pens. Two and three color cartridges look the same from the front, but do not have all the pens.
  • Bad print cartridge - replace with new, or test with cartridge from working recorder.
  • If print arm just replaced, wide blue connector that plugs into motor driver board positioned upside down.
  • Verify bold scale lines (vertical lines with numbers) start at inner blue ring, and end at outer blue ring. If not, perform chart calibration. Seal needs to be broken - chart cal under Calibration menu.

Q. How do I change the time on my AV-9900?

A. Performed directly from the keypad.

 

 

Q. How long does the print cartridge last?

A. Typical print cartridge life is two to six months. Time period is dependant on hours per day use, along with the amount of information printed to the chart.

 

 

Q. Can't go to forward flow - what should I look for?

A. Be sure the timing pump is running. Next, check the front display of the 9900. If set to display, STLR OUT should say ON - if not, you are not above cut-in temperature. If it says ON, you have reached cut-in. Check the flow diversion valve microswitches (shorted, stuck or not aligned). Check for power at the flow diversion micro-switches also - you may have a blown fuse in the 9900 - if this is the case, the legal chart plate seal will need to be broken in order to change. Q. Are the AV-9900 and DART Thermometer probes interchangeable?

A. No - although both contain dual 1000ohm elements, the DART probe contains additional circuitry. They are NOT interchangeable.

 

 

Q. Does the AV-9900 use special charts?

A. Yes - only one style chart is available for the AV-9900. Anderson Part Number: 00215401.

 

 

Q. Can I run the system longer than 12 hours without diverting?

A. Yes - at a point prior to reaching a full 12 hour cycle, press the CHART key twice. A menu will appear allowing you to place the unit in HOLD. The rotation will stop, but all legal controls will remain active. The system will not divert as long as you remain above cut-in temperature. Within 5 minutes, you must replace the chart. Press the CHART key twice to return to the menu, and select NEW. A new chart will begin to print, giving another 12 hours of run time. No breaks in data will occur - all data collected while changing the chart will be properly recorded.

 

 

Q. My 4-20 current output to my valve does not change. Do I have a bad output board?

A. No, you probably don't have a bad output board.Check to see if the controller is in the manual or automatic mode. Section 4. of the AV9900 manual,page 4, 4.3

 

 

Q. Can I add cold product record (CPR) or any other option to my existing recorder? Options, hot water control(HWC), flow(SFLR), 4-20mA output, relays.

A. Yes, you may add any option by obtaining the appropriate input,output,or relay boards, plus an add on kit.Contact Anderson Instrument technical service for a password to change the model number to correspond with the options you have added or removed from the recorder. 9900 Spare Parts

 

 

SL Inventory Grade Hydrostatic Level Transmitter

 

Q. My old unit was an SE - This one looks different - is it compatable?

A. The SL/SX sensors are an upgrade to the previous SE sensor model. Function is identical as far as both provide a 4-20 mA signal output - wiring is the same. Note that ranges should be reviewed. SL/SX sensors may use different ranges than the SE to cover the same calibration range.

 

 

Q. What needs to be done when I install a new sensor?

A. In most cases, sensors are supplied pre-caibrated directly from the factory. Details are as follows:

  • Be sure to follow tag to ensure watertight cable entry.
  • Wire receiver to LOOP (+) and LOOP (-) terminals.
  • Power sensor with 12-40 VDC.
  • Be sure vessel is empty
  • Perform a ZERO calibration - hold down ZERO switch for 5 seconds - release (No additional tools required)

 

 

Q. Can I re-calibrate a sensor in the field?

A. There are four ranges of sensor - desired new calibration MUST be within range of that model. Instructions are provided in the Service Manual.

 

 

Q. Are the ZERO and SPAN settings affected by each other?

A. No - Zero and Span settings are non-interactive. When a Zero is performed, it is not necessary to perform a check of the Span.

 

 

Q. Can I perform a SPAN change with product in the vessel?

A. Yes - Changes to the span may be made using the on-board Field Cal feature of the sensor, even with product in the vessel.

 

CAUTION - Performing this operation will affect the current output of the unit - be sure to verify all automated controls first.

 

 

Q. Is there a quick troubleshooting guide?

A. Yes - Technical Bulletin TS-3001 shows quick troubleshooting tips.

 

 

Q. Display of level indicator goes to zero when the test meter is disconnected, but reads correctly while meter is connected across the Test+ and Test- terminals.

A. The sensor may have been temporarily miswired, or the meter leads improperly located, resulting in a component failure within the sensor. A wire jumper may be connected between the Test+ and Test- terminals to bypass the failed component. The Test terminals will no longer be useable.

Q. I just received a new GK series Awesome panel meter, how do I set it up?

A. You should have gotten a manual with the instrument, wire the unit as per the manual. This is on page 3 of your book. Now depending on the type of unit that you have, factors the functions of the instrument. Using the index, find and do / use, in sequence: 1: Configure the unit. 2: Program the unit. 3: Operate the unit.

 

 

Q. Can I change the type of input to my GK "AWESOME" panel meter?

A. No. Each type or model number "AWESOME" is a unique instrument, with its own type of display and properties.
