Reliable detection of brewer grains

NCS-L capacitive limit switch for indicating whether the brewer grains tank is full or empty

Early on, the leading organic brewery, Neumarkt Lammsbräu in the Upper Palatinate in Germany, converted its entire operations to focus on sustainability. Today, around 60,000 hl of beer a year, as well as bottled water and fruit juice beverages, are produced 100 % organically. To indicate the filling level of the brewer grains, the well-established company uses the new NCS-L capacitive limit indicator from Negele.

Optical systems and other non-contact methods such as ultrasound and radar are often problematic due to steam formation and the associated condensation on the sensor, and are also more expensive.

The NCL-L is a simple, reliable and comparatively cost-effective alternative for this application.

To detect solids with a very low water content, the NCS-L limit indicator can be used with its wider measurement range. The extended sensor tip ensures that no residue or deposits impair the measurement.

Unlike in vibration limit switches, media residue or solids cannot accumulate in the vibration fork of the NCS-L, which would lead to fault messages.

Advantages:

  • Full substitute for vibration fork sensors thanks to a rod model with installation lengths up to 250 mm
  • Reliable switching due extended sensor neck, even with extremely high product adhesion (e.g. ketchup, mayonnaise, cottage cheese, etc.)
  • Adjustable switching threshold
  • Adjustable sensitivity via external digital signal
  • Capacitive measuring principle, regardless of the conductivity of the medium - no calibration required
